Doing it wrong

Todays post will be a little short, sorry for that. I had real life issues today and l couldn't play many games but l played one ZvT which l wan't to tell about.

The game was 38minutes long and l lost it. I think l came out of it as a winner because it was really the first long match for me. I don't say l did well, but it was better than expected.

First of all, l opened Speedling expand, but before l could expand the Terran had proxied 2 barracks and made a 2 bunker wall down on my ramp. I didn't panic like the first time l got bunker blocked, just made baneling nest and roach warren and finally pushed out of my base.

What l did next was just plain wrong. Did l take expand? No.. Did l drone? No.. I wen't for a baneling bust with my Slings blings and Roaches. Terran didn't even expand while l was blocked in my base and yet l wen't for a bust. Needless to say it got crushed and l was a little bit behind in supply. Well, l did something right, expanded while busting.

He even opened the way for me..

After my bust he attacked me and expanded behind me. I hold the push pretty well thanks to not panicking. (Not to mention l killed a siege tank with 5 banelings!) I was ahead now and l knew it, took the third and macroed up. I made some mutalisks and infestors out of my 3 base.

After that the whole game was me and the Terran player exchanging blows, he had 4 bases with one of them as a gold base and l had 3 bases. Not the ideal situation for a Zerg and obviously l lost it at the end.


But it was a great lesson for me! I realized many new things and most important of all I learned from my mistakes. My coach laughed at me hysterically when he saw the replay, glad l made someone happy.

First day of Zergness!

First of all, l need to say that at the moment l LOVE to play a Zerg. When l played Terran, l was really bad at making more production facilities and l almost every game got like thousand minerals saved for no reason. Well, change to Zerg, problem solved. You only need one "production facility" for each unit! How great is that?`

Yestyrday my coach (Friend) showed me the basic speedling expand which is kind of a safe build versus Terran and Protoss. The build transitions to Roaches and Infestors, which is kind a common build these days.

My other friend played against me as a Protoss and l could try to get the basic opening down. My coach spectated the whole game and pointed out late larva injects, when to build what and why. Needless to say, I lost the game.


After couple of games against Protosses he pointed out my biggest lacks for now:

Missing/Late Larva injects.

Late Roach Warren, Infestors and third base.

Over 2000 Banked minerals at 15min mark.

Creep Spread.

My drone saturation between bases. I had over 25 drones in one base and less than 15 in another.


Well, it wasn't really hard to guess what my game play lacks of, basically everything.  I really need to work on larva injects and getting everything on time for now.


Games Played


I faced only Protosses yestyrday. Everytime l got Zerg or Terran they just left. I played the custom Xel'Naga Caverns map and faced people from mid gold to high masters. I didn't really win that much, most of those wins are the players leaving before the game even started. Let's say l won 2 of 10 games.

Getting started

So this is it, l'm starting to play a Zerg. The race l hated most, but now l'm joining the zerg forces. Am l a betrayer? Maybe, everyone has own opinions.

Meaning of this blog that l'm posting daily updates about my success as a zerg player. I'm a diamond ranked Terran so l know basics of the zerg and overall gameplay, but this sure will be a hard road.

I have a friend who is in the Masters as a zerg and he promised to coach me on my way. So l l really do have a great starting position. I'm trying to improve everyday and hopefully someday in the future getting in the Grand Masters and participate in a tournament.

Today l'm going to mostly play games and my friend is going to tell me few builds, etc etc. Tomorrow l'm going to post a update about todays games, feelings and how l have improved!
